Football 2008

As Track season is winding down, it only begins the start of the 2008 Football Campaign. June 2nd starts the first passing league tournament followed by a Combine at EKU on June 3rd. After 2007 season ending at 11-1 and the majority of players returning, the expectations and enthusiasm here at GCHS is at an all time high. We will face Hazard (preseason Class A #1) in the opening game at Lexington Catholic High School. We are favored in Class AA District 3 to finish at the top but the road through the playoffs will be a tough one. Anything short of a chance at a State Title is out of the question. GO DRAGONS !!!

Regional Runners-up!

On Tuesday, May 20th our Track & Field squad travelled to Williamsburg to take on the rest of the Region. The meet took place at the University of the Cumberlands and the competition was stiff. We went in as one of the teams favored to win it. Upon the completion of the meet, we travelled back home with a Runner up trophy. Things did not go as planned. Even though we qualified 22 runners for state competition, three disqualifications and some small mishaps caused us to hand over the title to the Somerset Briarjumpers. Oh well, we will now prepare for the state competition at the University of Louisville on May 30-31 ! Good Luck Dragons!

Heartland Conference Champions!

On May 12, 2008, my boys Track & Field team was victorious in claiming the Heartland Conference Title. My girls finished runner up but was extremely pleased in some individual performances. Great Job! This is 8 years in a roll. THATS A DYNASTY! Now our focus this week will turn to preparing for a Region Title.
